What an exciting 1st night race for Formula 1. This was so heart-bumping. There were so many accidents happened in 1 night. Felipe Massa was in pole position for this very 1st Formula 1 night race. He was in great shape to become the World Driver Champion that night but … a major pit accident blew this possibility away for this night.

Alonso wins Singapore F1 night race

September 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The visibility concerns proved unfounded, the predicted thunderstorms never came, and the drivers quickly discovered they could overtake. The inaugural Singapore Grand Prix, the first Formula One event under floodlights, was a huge success and produced one of the most fascinating races of the season.

SPAIN’S Fernando Alonso snapped a year-long win drought to take the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, winning a drama-filled first ever night race as a comical error cost Felipe Massa dearly.

It was the Renault driver’s first victory since the Italian Grand Prix last year and capped a remarkable weekend that saw him top two of the free practice sessions but start 15th on the grid after a mechanical problem in qualifying.

He claimed his 20th career triumph by 2.95 seconds over Germany’s Nico Rosberg in a Williams and Britain’s world championship leader Lewis Hamilton in third.

Toyota driver Timo Glock was fourth with Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel following up his win in Italy this month with fifth. BMW Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld took sixth.

The race was a new experience for every driver on a street circuit under powerful spotlights and it turned out to be one of the most exciting of the season. -AFP

European Union Bans Baby Food Containing Chinese Milk

September 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Have you read the news about Chinese milk products? It is creating a huge impact to the world.

The European Union has banned imports of baby food that contains Chinese milk and is considering restrictions on other Chinese food products with powdered milk, as a tainted milk scandal in China takes on international proportions.

The announcement comes as controversy continues in China over infant milk formula tainted with the industrial chemical melamine that has killed four babies and sickened thousands of Chinese children.

In China, the problem has spread to a popular brand of candy, with authorities pulling White Rabbit candy from shelves in Shanghai and the southern province of Hainan.

Currently, White Rabbit candy has been recalled already in Singapore, Britain, Australia and New Zealand, was found to contain “unsatisfactory” levels of melamine — more than six times the legal limit — in a test of 67 dairy products, according to the Hong Kong government’s Center for Food Safety.

This is bad. I have to give up one of my favorite candies for now. What a pity! :-(

Johnny Depp will star in fourth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie

September 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Great News!!! Johnny Depp and Disney are coming together to file the 4th installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.

Our Captain Jack Sparrow is back!

I read that since “The Curse of the Black Pearl” was released in 2003, the “Pirates” films have netted a combined $2.6 billion, though critical praise for the sequels has been lukewarm at best.

The second film in the series, 2006’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” made $300 million in 16 days, a record surpassed only by this summer’s Batman sequel, “The Dark Knight.”

I can’t wait for the movie to come soon. Go go Captain Jack!
